Job Overview:
The Continuous Airworthiness Manager / Technical Training Lead will be responsible for ensuring the ongoing airworthiness of Tekever’s unmanned aerial systems (UAS) fleet at Hullavington Airfield. This includes managing the airworthiness of all systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and overseeing the training and development of technical personnel. The role will bridge technical operations with training, ensuring that personnel have the required skills and knowledge to maintain and operate the UAS fleet safely and effectively.
What will be your responsibilities:
Continuous Airworthiness Management:
Oversee airworthiness management for all UAS, ensuring compliance with CAA, MAA, EASA, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
Develop and implement a Continuous Airworthiness Management System (CAMS) to ensure the highest standards of safety and reliability for Tekever’s fleet.
Conduct regular airworthiness audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with airworthiness directives, safety regulations, and operational requirements.
Liaise with manufacturers, suppliers, and engineering teams to ensure proper maintenance, including service bulletins and mandatory updates.
Ensure the accurate documentation of maintenance records, repairs, modifications, and
inspections in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Manage scheduled maintenance programs, minimizing operational downtime for UAS.
Technical Training and Personnel Development:
Lead the development and delivery of technical training programs for UAS maintenance and operational personnel.
Design and continuously improve training programs to ensure technical staff are fully trained on the latest systems, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Create structured training curricula for new and existing personnel, covering maintenance, system diagnostics, and airworthiness assurance.
Ensure that personnel are familiar with UAS fleet maintenance procedures, including powertrain, avionics, payloads, and flight control systems.
Assess training effectiveness through performance evaluations, feedback, and refresher training to ensure up-to-date skills.
Manage training records and certifications for technical personnel, ensuring all qualifications are properly documented.
Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
Ensure compliance with applicable aviation safety standards and regulations, including CAA, MAA, and EASA.
Serve as the point of contact for regulatory authorities regarding airworthiness approvals, safety audits, and inspections.
Collaborate with the Safety and Compliance Department to integrate airworthiness standards into Tekever’s overall Safety Management System (SMS).
Conduct risk assessments for maintenance activities, identifying hazards and implementing mitigation strategies.
Ensure immediate reporting and management of safety-critical issues, malfunctions, or defects according to operational safety protocols.
Process Improvement and Innovation:
Continuously review and improve airworthiness management processes, procedures, and training programs to maximize efficiency and safety.
Stay updated on new UAS technologies, airworthiness requirements, and maintenance
techniques to integrate the latest innovations into airworthiness and training procedures.
Propose and implement process improvements to reduce downtime and enhance operational capabilities.
Collaborate with the engineering team to evaluate and introduce new tools and technologies for diagnostics, maintenance, and airworthiness management.
Team Leadership and Development:
Ensure the effective delegation of responsibilities within the technical team and promote a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior staff, offering guidance on maintenance procedures, troubleshooting, and best practices.
Conduct regular performance reviews, providing feedback and coaching to meet individual and team development goals.
Stakeholder and External Liaison:
Act as the primary liaison with external contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies concerning airworthiness management and technical training.
Collaborate with internal teams such as flight operations, safety, and compliance to ensure alignment on technical operations and safety goals.
Manage relationships with third-party service providers, ensuring they meet Tekever’s technical and safety standards.
Profile and requirements:
Education:
Degree or equivalent qualification in Aerospace Engineering, Aviation Maintenance, or a related field.UAS maintenance certifications or equivalent (e.g., Part 145, Part 147) are desirable.
Experience:
Extensive experience in UAS maintenance and airworthiness management.
Strong knowledge of CAA, MAA, and EASA regulations related to UAS airworthiness and maintenance.
Proven experience in developing and delivering technical training programs, particularly in aviation or UAS systems.
Experience in safety management systems (SMS) and risk assessment processes.
Skills:
Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage airworthiness processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with regulatory bodies, senior management, and internal teams.
Exceptional organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize effectively.
Desirable:
Experience with aircraft maintenance programs (AMP) and maintenance tracking systems.
Knowledge of advanced diagnostic tools, simulation training, and emerging technologies in UASÂ systems.
